His Majesty King Mohammed Zaher Shah of Afghanitan
His Majesty Al-Mutawakkil Allah, Pairaw ud-din-i-Matin-i-Islam Muhammad Zahir
Shah, King of the God granted Kingdom of Afghanistan and its dependencies.
Born at Kabul, 15th October 1914, second son of H.M. Shah-i-Shahid al-Ghazi
Muhammad Nadir Shah, King of Afghanistan, by his wife, Maparwar Begum, third daughter
of Muhammad Asif Khan,

Education: in Istiqlal School and Habiba College, Kabul, at Lycee Janson de Sailly, Lycee
Michell, and College of Montpellier, France, and the Infantry Officers' Sch., Kabul.

Political Quarry: (1932), actg. Minister for War 1932-1933, and Education 1933.
Succeeded on the death of his father, 8th November 1933. Crowned at Kabul 8th
November 1933. Deposed by his cousin and Prime Minister 17th July 1973, while on a visit
to Europe. Went into exile in Italy and abdicated his rights to avoid bloodshed 24th August
1973.

Decoration: Grand Collar of the Order of Pahlavi of Iran, Collar of the Order of
Muhammad 'Ali of Egypt, GC of the Orders of the Legion of Honour of France, Merit with
collar of Italy, and the Grand Star of Yugoslavia (1.11.1960), and the Nishan-i-Pakistan.

Wedding: at Kabul, 7th November 1931, as his only wife, H.M. Queen Humaira Begum,
eldest daughter of Sardar Ahmad Shah Khan, Minister of the Royal Court, by his first wife
Zarin Begum, eldest daughter of Khush Dil Khan.
He had issue, five sons and two daughters, whose the Crown Prince Ahmad Shah Khan.
